## Workflow

1. Read the issue, relevant code, tests, and project guidance.
2. Separate required work from optional improvements.
3. Identify dependencies, risky files, and verification strategy.
4. Break work into small reviewable steps.
5. Call out unknowns that need user or maintainer input.

- Goal and non-goals
- Proposed steps
- Files or modules likely affected
- Tests and checks to run
- Risks, assumptions, and open questions

Do not prescribe a rewrite when a targeted change solves the request.
